Google Tax Governance and Reporting Lead in Sydney, Australia

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 5 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation.

  • Ability to propose next steps and roadblock solutions and anticipate questions and challenges early, manage time, and follow work plans.

  • Ability to have strong attention to detail, organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.

  • Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.

  • Excellent investigative skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with executive management.

Tax Reporting, Governance and Operations is a key part of Google's International Controllership team, with the objective of ensuring ongoing tax compliance across the globe while supporting business growth. We are a team of experts managing a tax landscape, constantly innovating to stay ahead. Our tax operations are vital, handling over 5,000 tax filings internationally. As a tax governance lead within our IRG team, you will play a vital role in supporting and delivering these objectives.The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with new changes to existing processes.

  • Use data to extract meaningful insights and monitor the performance of different areas of a business.

  • Support Google’s tax process within International Controllership, including delivery oversight and management of processes performed by external vendors ensuring that all service levels are met, the internal control environment is robust and a quality service is provided.

  • Identify and assist with the implementation of system and process improvements (e.g., implement tax automation tools to improve reporting efficiency and accuracy) while responding accurately and timely to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

  • Deliver and manage agreed centralised activities and ongoing engagement model with Country Controllership.
