We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Event Planning Manager to join our team at Australia’s largest hotel. You will be working across Corporate & Wedding markets to deliver excellence to our clients.

About the Role:

The Senior Event Planning Manager will assist in the supervision of the Event Planning Department to ensure that all corporate and special events are delivered by the team in an exciting, personalised manner with five-star service. The Event Planning Manager will assist in achieving all financial and service objectives of the department.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To proactively handle all customer enquiries with a professional manner and demonstrate a high standard of customer service for all clients

  • To develop future and repeat business, contributing to the profitability of the hotel through the preparation of quotations and creating suitable corporate and special event packages.

  • Plan events across key market segment catering, charity, corporate events, socials & weddings.

  • Aim to exceed all revenue and profitability objectives of the department.

  • Independently managing promotional & advertising activities such as development of sales brochure and relevant package inclusions, maintaining a calendar of expos and marketing events to attend & participate in per year, project managing spotlight activities to promote weddings & events

  • Work with the Director of Event Sales & Planning to generate new business opportunities in the corporate & special event market.

  • To meet monthly targets set including KPI’s and booking to conversion ratio for both weddings and MICE business.

  • Working closely, and in conjunction with Clients & the Operations Team to ensure that all aspects of events are effectively coordinated and serve both the client's and hotel's needs.

  • Responsible for arranging and running client meetings, menu tasting sessions and planning appointments, as necessary.

  • Ensuring guest comments are acknowledged and corrective actions taken to meet guest satisfaction scores.

  • Assist with site inspections and hosted dinners during the working week and also on weekends when required.

  • Meet and greet client prior to events.

  • Oversee event set ups prior to commencement of functions.

To be successful in this role, ideally you will have:

  • A Minimum 4 years' industry experience.

  • Passion for working in different sectors namely MICE, business socials, corporate and weddings

  • Experience within the hospitality/hotel/events or catering industry is essential and experience in corporate or large-scale event sales in a client facing role would be highly regarded.

  • Knowledge of the social market, vendors and trends within Australia.

  • The ability to demonstrate solid sales experience with a record of achieving targets, managing projects and promotional activities.

  • Experience in using computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Knowledge of Opera software and billing.

  • Flexible to work rotating roster to include evenings & weekends to manage relevant events, with time a in lieu program.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Australian Working Rights.
