AON Business Development Manager in Sydney, Australia

  • Experienced insurance professional looking for a change of direction?

  • Impactful role that contributes to the success of our Risk Consulting business

  • Bring your persistence, professionalism, and polished presentation skills to the team

    Business Development Manager

    In this BDM role, you will be managing sales opportunities across the Aon business. You will be heavily focused on working closely with the Aon Global & Corporate and National teams to deliver bespoke risk consulting services across their client portfolios, alongside developing further opportunities outside of Aon.

    Aon is in the business of better decisions

    At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world.

    As an organization, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.

    What the day will look like

    You will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with your peers to develop opportunities for the wider consulting business.

  • Preparation of proposals, tenders and recurring opportunities.

  • Originating new fee-for-service consulting projects through both internal and external channels including distribution partners / associations.

  • Building relationships and working closely with your broking and commercial colleagues on appropriately identified opportunities.

  • Developing and maintaining the new business pipeline and delivering against budgeted revenue.

  • Help drive “Delivering Aon United” across the firm to create a more in tune and market leading sales culture.

    How this opportunity is different

    With plenty of future career opportunities across the Aon network, you will be given the opportunity to develop your career within a fast-growing global business.

    Our people are the heartbeat of our firm. Our passion for clients is what unites us, drives us and brings out the best in us. Across Aon, we create a culture of opportunity for our colleagues — driven by collaboration and innovation. Ultimately, Aon colleagues are more relevant, more connected, and more valued in ways that enable them to achieve their full professional potential.

    Skills and experience that will lead to success

    A creative, solutions-focused thinker, you are hungry, proactive, and ready to take ownership in this critical role. To be successful in this role you will display:

  • An enthusiasm to work with your peers and help develop and manage opportunities across the sales process;

  • A thirst to help organisations solve their risk management needs, including the need to think laterally around providing holistic solutions (rather than product vend Aon’s services);

  • Ability and credibility to engage with C-Suite executives and other decision-makers, with polished presentation skills;

  • Highly self-motivated and able to take ownership and accountability for development and execution of the sales pipeline;

  • A high degree of resilience and an outcome-focused approach supported by your ability to effectively communicate to a senior audience; and

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

    How we support our colleagues

    In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce. Plus, our agile, inclusive environment allows you to manage your wellbeing and work/life balance, ensuring you can be your best self at Aon. Furthermore, all colleagues enjoy two “Global Wellbeing Days” each year, encouraging you to take time to focus on yourself. We offer a variety of working style solutions, but we also recognise that flexibility goes beyond just the place of work... and we are all for it. We call this Smart Working!

    Our continuous learning culture inspires and equips you to learn, share and grow, helping you achieve your fullest potential. As a result, at Aon, you are more connected, more relevant, and more valued.

    We provide individuals with disabilities reasonable accommodations to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment in accordance with applicable law. Please contact us to request an accommodation on ReasonableAdjustments@Aon.com

    Aon values an innovative, diverse workplace where all colleagues feel empowered to be their authentic selves. Aon is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
