Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Pipeliner in Alvin or Sweeny Texas through September 17th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. (CDT).

The Pipeliner role supports the Texas Operations Team by completing day to day operational and maintenance tasks, such as valve lineups, pipe bolt ups, pipeline pigging, valve maintenance, commission and decommission pipelines. Pipeliners are qualified on specific job duties and can independently perform routine maintenance or pipeline operations tasks for an assigned pipeline system. Pipeliners are expected to be able to coordinate their own work , collaborate with other team members or lead contractors in performing daily operations and maintenance work processes. The position will support the South Team and will be based out of Alvin or Sweeny, TX.

Pipeliner is expected to become knowledgeable in company standards, company safe work practices and industry regulations on the operation of pipelines. Pipeliner is expected to follow all safety work practices and ensure third party contractors are following them. This role will require familiarization with CPChem’s chemical business and handling of High Volatile Liquids. This role requires cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Safety, Environmental, I&E, Land/ROW and Control Center. Role is expected to be promoted to Maintenance Technician after completing the requirement assessment.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Complete a variety of mechanical maintenance tasks on pipeline or piping systems such as pipe bolt ups, skillet installation, valve replacement, valve maintenance and meter head replacement.

  • Collaborate with Operations on the launching and receiving of pigs or smart tools.

  • Flaring of HVL pipelines or piping systems.

  • Purging of pipeline systems with nitrogen.

  • Perform maintenance or troubleshooting of air compressors and air dryers.

  • Operate motor vehicles.

  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Operations on the execution of hydrotests or other pipeline integrity tasks.

  • Complete valve inspection as per DOT requirements.

  • Perform routine housekeeping in shop, field and laydown areas.

  • Safe handling of highly volatile liquids such as ethylene, propylene, ethane, propane, etc.

  • Operate pipeline cleaning & drying equipment.

  • Operate commissioning equipment (water bath heater) for the safe commissioning of ethylene, propylene or ethane systems.

  • Follow JSAs and help team develop specific JSAs for any upcoming work.

  • Issue work permits to third party contractors.

  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations and assist other team members.

  • Inspect fire and other safety equipment to ensure that they are maintained and operational.

  • Assist with simple lockout/tagout procedures for piping and equipment repairs.

  • Learn and use basic SAP-PM functions including accessing and reviewing their work and creating notifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ pipeline or industry related experience.

  • Valid Driver's License - No DWI/DUI 3 years. DMV records will be checked.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Posees a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

  • Basic math and computer skills.

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered.

Must live within 10-15 miles from Alvin or Sweeny, TX.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
