The Senior Manager, Hybrid Cloud Systems Engineering is responsible for deploying, maintaining, and securing QTS’ virtualized infrastructure. This role will drive the tactical and operational direction for ensuring product and IT availability and reliability in partnership with multiple QTS lines of business. Overall responsible for ensuring technology standards are followed, facilitating relationships with internal stakeholders, and leading state of the art technology deployments across a rapidly growing portfolio. This role must build a strong team culture with a sense of urgency and responsibility. This role will manage the day-to-day tasks of our Systems (Server/Cloud/Virtualization) and Data Protection (Disaster Recovery/Data Protection) Engineers, primarily focused on data protection, remote access technologies, patching & vulnerability remediation, and vendor management.

The infrastructure that this manager supports enables the management of QTS applications across several lines of businesses and logical domains. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for working with leadership on budget for hardware/software purchasing. This role will be tasked with providing overall IT Application and Infrastructure support for the organization in accordance with business policies and industry regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop a strong culture of continuous improvement, technology expertise, and stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Responsible for management virtualization deployments and their associated maintenance and security schedules.

  • Manage the data protection and associated backups of critical infrastructure and applications

  • Responsible for infrastructure modernization and refresh projects.

  • Manage the secure, virtualized desktop infrastructure, VDI, environment and associated technology refreshes & evolution

  • Develop the vision for the team and motivate/inspire team to accelerate evolution of technology maturity.

  • Partner with Information Security Team on addressing security risks and implementing continuous security improvement features within responsible environments.

  • Manage the Tier III and IV Systems Operations staff responsible for monitoring and diagnosing systems and hardware problems. Management includes supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.

  • Lead team operational planning projects. Organize and negotiate the allocation of resources.

  • Responsible for defining and documenting standards within scope of responsibility.

  • Responsible for ensuring risk-based vulnerability management.

  • Provides technical direction and instruction relative to complex problems.

  • Coordinates project phases from inception, planning, requirements, development, test, and delivery.

  • Partner with internal and external customers, vendors, engineers, operations, and all levels of management.

  • Work within the Technology Operations Department to develop and achieve SLA/SLOs.

  • Work with leadership to establish department objectives, work plans, schedules, and ensures resources are available for completion of complex technical projects. Shall ensure that all tasks are developed into appropriate plans and completed with required analysis and reports.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent professional experience

  • Five or more years of progressive IT technology management experience, with a focus on Systems Engineering, including experience with Windows and Linux operating systems and virtualization

  • General understanding of backup technologies and high availability services

  • Five or more years of experience leading cross organizational teams

  • Background in IT infrastructure lifecycle, budget, planning, requirements management, and test procedures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA degree

  • Five or more years of experience in a Data Center or critical infrastructure environment

  • vmWare certification (s)

  • Citrix certification (s)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • ITIL certification

  • Other Systems or Network Engineering related certification (s)

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, DevOps principles, and Infrastructure as Code

  • Physical Security Engineering (application and hardware)

  • TOGAF or related certification (s)
