The Physical Security Engineer is responsible for the implementation and support of QTS’ physical security systems and applications. In this role, you will provide organizational expertise in the ensuring deployment and continued operation of the physical security systems Data Center sites require.
RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.
Provide engineering support related to the integration of video surveillance, physical access control, intrusion prevention, and other physical security technology applications.
Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
Provide scope of work and as-built documents for security systems deployments.
Provide cost and level-of-effort estimates associated with all technical deliverables.
Drive project lifecycle for security systems implementation.
Work with security stakeholders to continuously improve current systems and processes based on evolving requirements.
Review and assist with the design and expansion of existing systems.
Assist in the development and testing of new security architecture, systems and components.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
Seven or more years of progressive IT engineering experience
Five or more years of Systems Engineering experience, with a strong focus on physical security system technologies and architecture
Five or more years of experience operating, designing, and integrating CCTV and Access Control systems
Strong technical knowledge of physical security systems, including video surveillance, access control and intrusion detection.
Highly experienced with Access Control, cameras, video analytics, remote monitoring services, intrusion detection, and alarm services.
Some travel to other QTS facilities will be required
US Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contracts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
Three or more years of experience maintaining Genetec enterprise-level IP based CCTV systems, appliances, and software
Three years or more years of experience maintaining Prowatch enterprise-level Access Control systems
Prior hands-on experience with Lenel systems
Prior experience working in a Data Center environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read, interpret, and produce engineering documents that may include: Control Drawings, Sequence of Operations, Bill of Materials, Graphical User, Interface requirements, and Functional Specifications
Strong technical troubleshooting skills
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and colleagues
Orderly documentation, time management, and planning skills
Excellent written and oral communication, problem solving, and process management skills.
Ability to work well within a team environment in a matrixed organization
Strong customer relations skills
Ability to learn and apply new technology and methodologies in a distributed environment
Actively invests in growing yourself and others to build the talent and capabilities required for sustained success. Provide training and mentorship for lower-level team members.
Ability to work quickly and independently in high stress situation/environment.
