Job Title: Automotive Mechanic

Job Description

The Automotive Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining service operations by inspecting and repairing vehicles. Primary duties include repairing and maintaining vehicles/buses, service work such as balancing tires and wheel alignment, completing production work, pre-delivery inspection of new buses, performing preventative maintenance, completing commercial vehicle inspections on vehicles/buses, running diagnostic tests on vehicles/buses, conducting test drives, floor repairs, some welding for exhaust repairs, shop cleanup as needed, becoming propane certified, assisting with assembly 10-20% of the day, working on fire safety or electrical work when in assembly, servicing AC compressors in the summer, conducting AC performance testing, and performing oil changes.

Primary Duties:

• Repairing and maintaining vehicles/busses

• Service work - balancing tires, wheel alignment

• Completing production work

• Pre-delivery inspection of new buses

• Performing Preventative Maintenance

• Complete Commercial Vehicle Inspections on vehicles/busses

• Running diagnostic tests on vehicles/busses

• Conduct test drives

• Floor repairs - (made of plywood)

• Some welding for exhaust repairs - Mig Aluminum and Steel

• Shop cleanup as needed

• Propane Certified

• Assist with assembly 10-20% of the day

• Work on fire safety or electrical work when in assembly

• Ac compressors in the summer

• AC performance testing

• Oil changes

Must Haves

• Red Seal Automotive technician

• 2-3 years of maintenance and repair experience on Automotive and/or busses

• Experience with 12 V

• Valid driver’s license

• CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) license to inspect vehicle classes 4 & 5

• Steel Toe Work Boots

• Multimeter

• Computer literate

Work Environment

The shop environment is equipped with state-of-the-art shop equipment, mobile tower hoists, and very clean with LED shop lighting. It provides a pretty relaxed atmosphere that is regimented on safety, with each technician having a dedicated bay and a cart with their tools. There are opportunities for OEM Bus training, and the team has an average tenure of 10 years. The working hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am -4:30pm, with no weekend work. The pay is $36-$38/hr.
