About the Role

Michelangelo is the machine learning platform team in Uber. We have been supporting Uber's machine learning needs since 2015. https://www.uber.com/blog/michelangelo-machine-learning-platform We also have made the journey from preditive ai to generative ai. https://www.uber.com/blog/from-predictive-to-generative-ai We like to invite ML engineers who are passionate to build scalable ML solutions related to LLM, and embedding techniques. Those will surface in every corner in Uber, from customer obsession to eats recommendations; from software testing frameworks to auto code gen tools.

We are currently looking for individuals with experience in building and standardizing machine learning solutions, developing metrics for machine learning models, working with embeddings and analytics, and having expertise in transfer learning or model fine-tuning. Experience with ML Ops is also a plus.

---- What the Candidate Will Do ----

• Build Gen AI and Embedding solutions with our customer teams

• Collaborating with other teams in Machine learning platforms to deliver business impact with customer teams

• Defining the behavior of dependencies, and holding the depending team accountable

---- Basic Qualifications ----

• PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics with analytical research background, or related field OR 3-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 2-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Programming language: Python

• Note the 2-years total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The years of specialized experience are not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated

• Experiences building machine learning solutions, and standardize it

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
