Amazon Software Development Engineer in Test, FireTV in Sunnyvale, California

Description

Are you interested in jumping into the driver’s seat of our sensational FireTV partner products? We are looking for exceptional talent to join as Software Development Engineer in Test in the Fire TV team.

Here you will drive key engineering and business decisions that impact Amazon’s long-term vision, which includes rapid expansion into new geographies, and innovation in the delivery of media entertainment.

The candidate must be responsive, flexible, self-motivated, and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. You will need to be able to work efficiently and effectively in a fun, fast-paced dynamic team environment.

As a SDET, you will develop, execute, and maintain software to test the product. SDETs at Amazon are expected to have industry-leading technical abilities that enable them to significantly improve product quality. You should have a combination of solid in-depth knowledge of Quality Assurance, solid understanding of computer science principles, as well as knowledge of how to architect software for maximum longevity.

In this position, you will be exposed to Amazon’s best practices when it comes to QA engineering. Additionally, you will get firsthand experience working directly on our Fire TV products and services.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will

  • Design, develop, implement, test, and document distributed software applications, tools, systems and services.

  • Translate functional requirements into robust, efficient, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture.

  • Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools.

  • Mentor junior engineers.

About the team

FireTV 3P engineering team is chartered to bring enchanting FireTV experiences to third party devices. This is an opportunity to design, develop and own the software that disrupts TV viewing experience and impact billions of viewers and devices.

We are spinning up a greenfield engineering team to build tools and technologies which will redefine the way 3P partners build their TVs on FireTV ecosystem. With exciting roadmap and launches planned ahead. FireTV 3P engineering team will independently own, deliver and support end to end product journey for partners.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development testing experience

  • 2+ years of test automation frameworks and tools building experience

  • 2+ years experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience shipping media devices

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
