Amazon Lab126, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. that has consistently designed and engineered high-profile devices like the Kindle family, tablets with breakthrough hardware technology, and Fire TV, is seeking a dynamic, self-sufficient, and experienced Software Development Engineer to join our Device OS organization. You will be part of a team working on creating innovative software tools and services used for device testing. You will be working with high-profile product families including but not limited to Amazon Kindle, FireOS, and Android devices. Will you help us shape the future?

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer, you will work with a diverse and experienced cross-disciplinary team to conceive, design, develop, maintain, and scale our innovative products. Your ability to thrive in an open, collaborative peer environment will be essential.

Your role involves building software that will expose APIs to be consumed by collaborative teams and front-end portals, improving product quality significantly, and being responsive to customer issues. Your technical prowess should be industry-leading, coupled with a solid understanding of web application and service development, operating system software, and object-oriented design principles.

You should command the skill to communicate clearly and effectively. Candidates will need to define implementation plans, development specifications, and development test automation, as well as design tools for unit, functional, and performance testing in a programmatic manner.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 4+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
