Fujitsu Research of America (FRA) is inviting applications for an entry-level research staff member position in machine learning. The selected candidate will work from FRA’s Sunnyvale office. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanic Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics with a focus on machine learning, human–computer interaction, or software engineering.

Job responsibilities:

1. Research efficient data wrangling algorithms to transform various types of raw data into structured data for different downstream tasks.

2. Develop data discovery and data integration systems by leveraging the power of Large Language Models.

3. Create prototypes targeting practical adoption in business use cases.

4. Publish research papers in reputed scientific journals, and conferences. Showcase the work via presentation in invited talks, conferences workshops, and/ or poster sessions.

5. Advance team as well as FRA goals through academic as well as industrial collaborations.

Essential requirements:

1. Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanic Engineering Mathematics, or Physics with some research background in the area of machine learning, natural language processing, or software engineering.

2. Strong publication record demonstrated by accepted or published research papers in high-quality conferences and/ or journals.

3. At least 4 years of research experience working in machine learning, human–computer interaction, or software engineering.

Preferred requirements:

1. Strong background and knowledge in Auto Data Wrangling, AutoML, machine learning, natural language processing, human–computer interaction, and software engineering.

2. Knowledge of areas such as optimization or software program analysis is a plus.

3. Expert in Python programming.

4. System development experience in web-based systems or large-scale backend systems.
