Job Description Summary

We are looking for a Quality Inspector who will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of our process control systems and detecting trends in product quality. As a Quality Inspector, you will conduct sampling, product testing, and visual inspection of finished goods while identifying nonconformance's and ensuring accurate containment as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducts sampling, product testing, and visual inspection of components and/or finished goods; identifying nonconformances and ensuring accurate containment as required.

  • Report all product nonconformance issues to Quality Management, and Production Supervisor.

  • Initiates Quality Holds (QNs) and ensures the notifications are completed accurately and completely.

  • Completes accurate, timely, and legible documentation of all inspection/testing data.

  • Record the results of inspections, tests, and audit findings on the appropriate forms and/or in the Quality Module of SAP.

  • Assists with validation and special quality related projects as requested.

  • Stat sample or contain hold products as applicable per the appropriate specification requirements.

  • Reads and interprets sampling plans to determine sample size and/or accept/reject criteria If an identified Trainer, train new hire/transferred inspectors to inspect product per the appropriate specifications and use all gauges/ equipment pertaining to Quality Assurance testing.

  • Maintains adherence to all safety, environmental and quality system standards.

  • Engages in Safety, Quality, Production and Plant related programs as required (Safety Observations, Meetings, Gembas, Quality Week, Inclusion and Diversity Council Activities, etc.)

  • Maintains compliance with all training requirements, ensures training is current and completed within the time allotted.

  • Floaters need to be able perform all functions listed above for ALL Business Units within the site.

  • Floaters will be required to cover open positions on their assigned shift due to absences for vacation, etc.

  • Floaters may also be required to perform additional testing / inspection throughout the plant to support various validations and projects.

  • Floaters may also cover for the QA Team Lead on the shift in the event of an absence (planned or unplanned) as noted below:

  • Coordinates and guides the activities of the in-process inspectors on shift. Works with Production Supervisors as appropriate to ensure supervision, on shift, is aware of quality related issues.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all other miscellaneous duties as appropriately directed by Quality Management or designate.

  • Stays in sync with all local BD quality policies/procedures/practices through consistent application of sound Quality Assurance principles.

Education and Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/G.E.D. required

  • Minimum 6 months manufacturing environment experience required

  • Basic concept of Quality and/or SAP required

  • Ability to navigate a computer in a Windows based environment required

  • 6 months QA experience or exposure (preferred)

  • Use of measurement devices such as Calipers, Go/No-Go Gauges, Optical Comparators, Digital Force Gauges and rules (preferred)

  • Blueprint reading and Statistical Process Control (preferred)

QSR/PPE Requirements:

  • Beard Cover (if applicable)

  • Hair Net

  • Hearing Protection

  • Safety Glasses

  • Smock (for product safety)

  • Other: Face Mask / Face Shield if required

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • 12 hour Night Shift, 3, 2, 2, 3 schedule

  • Position may require working in various departments (Floater)

  • Departments that produce needles, the probability of needle sticks.

  • Cross Overs between production lines may be present in some production departments

  • BD is a smoke-free campus. Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy.

  • Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals. Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor. Thank you for respecting our policy.

  • Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes. Qualified new hired will have allowance provided.
