Atlantic Health System Lead Mammography Technologist, OMC in Summit, New Jersey

Responsible for operating X-ray equipment that produces radiographs designated areas of the body for diagnostic purposes. Assists physicians in performing the imaging procedures and acts as a point of contact for various medical departments. Possesses advanced knowledge, experience and subject matter expertise in diagnostic mammography. Acts as a lead and facilitates and coordinates the work with subordinates.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Performs patient assessment, screening and diagnostic procedures using various imaging equipment.

  2. Explains the procedure to patients, obtains cooperation and resolves patient queries about the process in a timely manner.

  3. Maintains, cleans and makes adjustments and upgrades to the radiographic equipment as necessary.

  4. Specializes in production of screening and complex diagnostic x-rays for detection of breast tumors.

  5. Accurately examines diagnostic images and adjusts factors if an image scan needs to be repeated.

  6. Uses protection techniques, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to minimize radiation to patients and staff.

  7. Possesses advanced knowledge in mammographic radiology and guides junior staff as applicable.

  8. Ensures proper sanitation and safety measures for the diagnostic process and equipment.

  9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree in an accredited RT Program or related field .

  2. Minimum 3 years of clinical experience as a staff technologist in mammography or relevant areas.

  3. State RT License.

  4. ARRT Mammography Certification.

  5. CPR Certified.

Preferred:

  1. 4 or more years of clinical experience as a staff technologist in mammography or relevant areas.

  2. Certifications like ARDMS, BLS, RHM, CRT preferred.
