JOB DESCRIPTION:

An exciting opportunity to join an established and supportive Child Life and Creative Arts Team at Overlook Medical Center as music therapy services are initiated in the Pediatric Emergency Department, Pediatric Inpatient unit, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Principal Accountabilites:

• Provide Music Therapy services to pediatric patients based on an understanding of child development and the impact that illness, injury, and hospitalization have on this process.

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to insure the provision of a developmentally appropriate plan of care and interventions for infants, children, and adolescents.

• Assist caregivers in identifying ways to support their infant while in the NICU, thereby increasing their confidence and skills through education.

• Develop and support family centered care programming and services to meet the needs pediatric patients and families.

• Support initiatives and requirements of the child life program including but not limited to planning of special events, receipt of donations, and supervision of students/volunteers.

• Maintain records, statistics, activity calendars, schedules, and other appropriate documentation.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in music therapy or related field required, Masters preferred

• Board Certified Music Therapist Required

• NICU Music Therapist training or certification preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preferred minimum 2 years’ experience as a Music Therapist

• Preferred experience within a NICU and/or treatment of medically fragile infants.

• Understanding and knowledge of infant development and music therapy interventions specific to this population

• Ability to work independently.

• Experience with program development.
