Robert Half Controller in Suffolk, Virginia

Description We are looking for a skilled Controller to manage all aspects of financial reporting, accounting, and compliance in our team. This role is based in Suffolk, Virginia and involves providing leadership, ensuring the integrity of financial information, and contributing to informed decision-making at the executive level.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP/IFRS.

• Manage the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.

• Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting, providing insights to optimize financial performance.

• Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

• Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

• Oversee tax compliance, including the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns.

• Provide analysis and insights on financial performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.

• Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.

• Ensure adherence to GAAP Accounting rules and SEC Regulations.

• Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as needed. Requirements • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role as a Controller.

• Proficiency in Accounting Functions and Auditing is required.

• Demonstrated experience in Budget Processes and Financial Performance analysis.

• Ability to Provide Leadership and oversee Accounting operations.

• Experience in preparing an Annual Budget and managing a General Ledger.

• Proficiency in Ad Hoc Financial Analysis and Corporate Accounting.

• Understanding of GAAP Accounting principles.

• Knowledge of Banking Regulation and Bank Policy is necessary.

• Familiarity with Internal Control systems and Sarbanes Oxley Requirements.

• CPA certification is required.

• Prior experience in a Big 4 Accounting Firm is preferred.

• Knowledge of SEC Regulations is necessary.
