Job Summary:

Service is the foundation of everything we stand for at Vail Resorts and our rental employees are no exception to this experience of a lifetime. Responsible for providing high-end customer service and store support, our Retail Management staff are knowledgeable representatives of our brand and culture inside our retail stores ready to assist with any of our customers’ questions and provide premium products.

Job Specifications:

  • Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time

  • Expected Pay Range: $25.00 - $27.00 / hour

Job Responsibilities:

Manage rental operations at the resort’s premium rental and demo operation, located inside of the resort’s only on-hill lodging facility:

  • Manage and maintain rental fleet; fleet tuning and maintenance, inventory control and overdue rental recovery, pre-season and weekly ASTM testing, incident inspection and reporting, and end of season fleet retirement

  • Manage daily equipment dispatch, evening rental returns, and overnight rental storage

  • Monitor and fulfill advance rental reservations and assist with daily walk-in rental/demo customers

  • Understand and assist retail and rental customers with proper ski boot fitting and adjustment, as well as ski binding functionality, mounting, adjustment, and testing

  • Complete all required training and certification by all ski binding manufacturers, and ensure that all rental staff meets annual binding certification requirements

  • Assist in leading daily store operations, monitoring sales performance and budgets including scheduling and payroll; act as manager-on-duty in the absence of a Store Manager.

  • Maintain daily store records for performance, sales metrics, inventory control and Rental KPIs (key performance indicators) including rental cycle times, equipment upgrades, and damage waiver capture

  • Assist with the hiring and training of employees in the Rental Operations System (RPOS), Point of Sale system operations (APTOS), online rental reservation system (Epicmountainrentals.com), rental/demo and retail product knowledge, guest service, sales techniques, and loss prevention policies and procedures

  • Monitor team performance and behavior to provide meaningful feedback and direction, providing recognition or correction action if necessary

  • Maintain up-to-date product knowledge and provide excellent customer service through timely response to customer questions, suggestions, complaints, and recognition

  • Participate with leadership forums providing feedback and input on store performance, training, and continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Other duties as assigned or needed, including specialty areas like retail merchandising and retail inventory management.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; Business area training or education preferred 

  • 1-3 years of rental supervisor experience; ski industry preferred.   

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment, multitask and manage multiple customers  

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends 

  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English  

The expected pay range is $25 - $27. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
