JOB SUMMARY
UConn Student Health and Wellness (SHaW) is hiring a Medical Office Coordinator for our UConn Waterbury Campus. This position can be 9, 10, or 12 months and is an annually renewable position. This position will be responsible for front office and medical office operations to ensure positive student flow and student experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working under limited supervision of a supervisor or manager, the SHaW Medical Office Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
Coordinates daily office operations and assists with office processes including student flow and student experience.
Oversees Patient Registration including updating personal and insurance information for accurate billing and record-keeping.
Responsible for scheduling and coordinating student appointments with clinical services, including conducting screenings for access to appointments.
Ensures quality care, patient satisfaction, and smooth operations to build trust in SHaW services. Engaging students with empathy and professionalism quickly addressing concerns.
Assists students, faculty, and staff with a wide range of administrative and fiscal functions.
Provide programmatic support for day-to-day operations for SHaW.
Assists with the coordination, marketing, scheduling, and other logistics for SHaW-sponsored outreach, programming, and events.
Assists with coordinating and facilitating SHaW Departmental events (e.g., retreats, and extended department meetings).
Provides SHaW support on a wide range of fiscal, administrative, and operational matters.
Prepares basic budget and statements of revenues and expenditures for SHaW cost centers and oversees management of inventory, supplies, and travel expenses.
Ensures compliance with established departmental administrative policies and procedures.
Assists with the maintenance and coordination of complex filing systems, records, and mailings, including for purchasing, human resources, and financial systems, such as HuskyBuy, Concur, CoreCT, PageUp, KFS, Kuali, etc.
Assists in the preparation of reports as appropriate to meet Federal, State, University, and departmental requirements.
Serves as a liaison between the department and other University offices.
Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two to three years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the degree and years requirement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience in a healthcare or university setting.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Positive and professional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team environment, establishing relationships with a variety of constituents.
Ability to efficiently handle and successfully complete multiple tasks.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This position can be filled as a 9, 10, or 12-month role, offering 12 weeks of summer leave, 8 weeks of summer leave, or year-round work. This is a full-time, end-dated position with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and funding.
