Stony Brook Medicine (Stony Brook University Hospital) Trauma Research Support Specialist in Stony Brook, New York

Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, the Trauma Research Support Specialist is a valuable member of our Level 1 accredited trauma center team, who will be responsible for assisting principal investigators in managing and conducting research studies and clinical trials per federal, state, and institutional guidelines. Under supervision, the Specialist collects, analyzes, maintains, and prepares research information pertaining to the Trauma Program and the ACS accreditation process.

The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

Duties of a Trauma Research Support Specialist may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Develop, monitor, coordinate and manage activities to maintain effective operation of the Trauma research program.
  • Work collaboratively with other employees, faculty, and professionals to advance the goals of the Center.
  • Provide support for clinical research, retrospective or prospective observational studies, and performance improvement studies.
  • Observe, collect, and analyze data and write summary reports as necessary.
  • Prepare reports, drafts and/or manuscripts based on the collected data.
  • Assist with the preparation of Institutional Board Review (IRB) applications and documents.
  • Perform literature searches relevant to clinical research topics and references for bibliographies.
  • Assist with the preparation of electronic presentation/ media for national meetings/conferences.
  • Coordinate field and laboratory work and/or develop and maintain databases.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in healthcare, science or related field and at least 2 years of full-time research activity experience or a Master's degree in a related field and at least 1 year of related experience.
  • Experience with collecting and analyzing data.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Research, Public Health, Health Analytics, Applied Health Informatics or related field.
  • Authorship on scientific manuscripts.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as - $61,200 - $68,850 / year.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

In addition, all UUP positions have an additional $3,087
