Stony Brook Medicine (Stony Brook University Hospital) Staff Assistant II - Per Diem - Nursing Office in Stony Brook, New York
Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Staff Assistant II is a valuable member of our team, who provides administrative and executive support and has the ability to interface with all levels of management throughout the hospital.

Duties of a TH Staff Assistant II in the Nursing Office may include but are not limited to the following:
- Utilizes IT systems relevant to Nursing Office operations for data entry, reporting and data analysis.
- Coordinates office functions for the Nursing Office, including telephone reception, processing of clear, concise and courteous communication into and out of the office, as well as record keeping, preparation and filing of memorandum/reports, etc. Photocopies and distributes information as appropriate.
- Keeps accurate records on staffing each day to ensure scheduling system accuracy.
- Develops electronic files for storing, analyzing, and presenting information. Creates professional quality spreadsheets, charts, graphs, data base reports and in-house communication. Prepares administrative statistics and reports under the direction of the Director of Nursing Support Services.
- Ensures Nursing Office operation logs remain up to date and checked accordingly.
- Analyzes data pertinent to the utilization of nursing staff/skill mix hospital wide. Including but not limited to, tracking and trending overtime utilization and the allocating of Safety Care Assignments.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Associates degree. Computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently, with excellent time management and communication skills. Experience and skill in focusing on details, accuracy, multi-tasking, and follow-through. Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with all departmental heads/supervisors on a house wide basis. Two years relevant experience in a supervisory/administrative capacity.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Computer skills to include PeopleSoft, Kronos, Cerner. Past experience in hospital or healthcare setting. Knowledge and experience in the application of performance improvement methodologies.

Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such are required to report to work/remain at work when the hospital is working on limited operations in an emergency.
The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation. Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services (The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination), submit (3) written references, and provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
