Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience with research activities. Experience with research techniques i.e. operating equipment, carrying out test procedures and using special methods for data collection and interpretation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering or a similar field. One (1) year of full-time research experience. Experience working with small animal models of human disease. Experience with radioactive materials. Mammalian cell culture and/or small animal imaging experience.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Research Support Specialist will be responsible for supporting critical laboratory activities including but not limited to chemical synthesis, mammalian cell culture and handling of mice for imaging procedures and therapy studies. Support will be provided by performing research activities as well as the analysis and presentation of the resultant data. Additionally, the RSS will be responsible for managing laboratory inventory, placing orders for equipment/supplies.
The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. They will demonstrate professional competence in research activities with a willingness to work with small animals as well as radioactive materials. They will display specialized training and a willingness to learn new techniques in operating equipment, carrying out test procedures, and using special methods for data collation and interpretation.
Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Conduct experiments; provide technical laboratory support, and/or animal handling to assist with experiments conducted.
Perform Lab operations management including ordering supplies, cleaning bench space and supplies.
Perform literature search; staying current in the field by reading and discussing the literature and experimental results with the supervisor and/or PI.
Collect data, record observations measurements and prepare reports for review of supervisor and or PI.
Other duties as assigned.
