Description

The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health invites applications for a clinical psychologist faculty position at the level of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor. The clinical psychologist will join the newly launched Valerie Fund Children's Center at Stony Brook Children's.

The Valerie Fund's mission is to provide support for the comprehensive health care of children with cancer and blood disorders. The clinical psychologist will provide psychological screening and psychotherapy to children and families managing cancer and blood disorders.

This faculty member will also contribute to academic services including teaching and supervising psychology externs, interns, and/or post-doctoral fellows, as well as medical students, psychiatry residents and fellows. There may also be opportunities for clinical research.

Responsibilities include direct patient care (at least 90% effort) including diagnostic evaluations; individual, family and/or group psychotherapy; and, research/academic activities (up to 10% effort). Shifts totaling 40 hours per week, including the possibility of evening hours; possibility of telehealth/remote work as applicable.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D./PsyD (or foreign equivalent) in Clinical Psychology from an APA or PCSAS-accredited University. New York State license or eligibility. Experience with providing psychological services to children/families. Experience with providing supervision to psychology trainees.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with pediatric oncology and hematology. Clinical Psychology publications in peer reviewed journals. Experience with conducting psychological evaluations and providing cognitive-behavioral therapy and other evidence-based psychotherapy with children/adolescents/families.

Tenure/Non-Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. To qualify for tenure and/or a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
