Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Ph.D. (foreign equivalent or higher degree) in Physics or related field in hand by September 2021.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. (foreign equivalent) in theoretical condensed matter physics in hand by September 2021. Expertise in topological phases of matter and a strong publication record.
Brief Description of Duties: The Condensed Matter Theory group at Stony Brook University seeks applicants for a postdoctoral research position. The successful candidate will work primarily with Dr. Jennifer Cano and is encouraged to collaborate with theoretical and experimental faculty in the department. is focused on topological phases of matter. Research topics may include, but are not limited to, the classification of topological phases and defects, prediction of topological materials, Dirac and Weyl semimetals, and twistronics applied to topological materials. The successful candidate will lead collaborative research projects with the PI and/or students. They will have the freedom to work on related topics and collaborate with students or faculty in the department or at the Flatiron Institute.
- Perform research on topological materials, write and publish results, initiate new projects and collaborations, read existing and current literature
- Be an active member of the PI's research group by mentoring and collaborating with students and the PI, participating in the group meeting, and attending seminars at Stony Brook.
- Disseminate results clearly and thoughtfully through conference travel and/or seminars.
- Other duties as assigned.
