Stony Brook University Assessment Specialist in Stony Brook, New York

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time professional experience working in academic assessment, evaluation, or closely related field. Experience developing and conducting workshops. Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods. Working knowledge of a statistical software package (Excel, SPSS, SAS, and/or R).Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three years of full-time professional experience working in academic assessment, evaluation, or closely related field. Experience working with faculty. Experience in post-secondary teaching. Experience with survey and/or test construction. Knowledge of Tableau, Microsoft's Power BI, or a similar program.Brief Description of Duties:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Course Assessment & Evaluation, the Course Assessment Specialist will provide assessment support for faculty and instructors through consultation, workshops, and dissemination of resources and technologies. The Course Assessment Specialist will also support the department's internal assessment, data collection, and reporting efforts.

Duties:

  • Provide expertise and support in the design, implementation, and interpretation of data related to student learning outcomes and assessment measures at the course level, as well as department level assessment.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director, faculty, instructional designers and the Office of Educational Effectiveness to utilize assessment results to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Support the Assistant Director in promoting and administering course evaluations to the university, analyzing course evaluation results, and tracking and assessing CELT's teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Design, develop and facilitate workshops, and online training content for faculty and staff on course assessment strategies, tools and techniques
  • Professional development and responsibilities:
  • Engage in professional development to stay abreast of current best practices in academic assessment and emerging technologies.
  • Participate in local, state, regional and national professional associations, conferences and committees as appropriate.
  • In performance of these job duties, at all times be responsible for delivering optimal customer service, for protecting institutional data and privacy, and the excellent delivery of solutions and services by following divisional and University policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.


Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.For this position, we are unable to sponsor candidates for work visas.
