JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 20939 Position Title: NADF Lead Animal Care Technician III TTC Title and Code: Animal Care Technician III (AN010) FTE:100% Principal Work Location: UW-Stevens Point Northern Aquaculture Demonstration Facility in Bayfield, Wisconsin Supervisor: Tyler Firkus, Assistant Director Position Summary The University Staff Lead Aquaculture Technician works under the supervision and guidance of the UWSP Northern Aquaculture Demonstration Facility, Assistant Director in Bayfield. The position serves as a staff member in all aspects involving the culture of fish and assists with performing activities defined in grant-funded, contract, and education-based projects. The position will coordinate project activities with USTEs, volunteers, apprenticeships, and interns at the facility. Responsible for performing general maintenance functions on equipment, building and grounds, and on-call working overtime when alarm issues occur since the UWSP-NADF works with live animals (fish) that require 24/7 monitoring. As lead technician, collecting and analyzing water quality and fish performance data is continuous. The position will supervise and assign tasks to interns and other technicians. Finally, the lead technician will make fish nutrition, biosecurity, and health decisions for optimal project performance. Shift: 7:45am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday. Preferred Qualifications -In place of 4 years experience, a M.S. degree from an accredited institution in aquaculture, fisheries biology, freshwater science, hatchery management or related water-science field. -An understanding of the complete life-cycle production of Atlantic salmon, Arctic char, rainbow trout, lake trout, walleye, lamprey, and yellow perch. -Skills in basic aquaculture facility and equipment maintenance such as small engine repair, net mending, carpentry, PVC piping, lawn care, power tool operation, tractor operation, etc. -Possess a valid driver\'s license and ability to meet standards set to drive state vehicles. -Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. ***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Online: www.careers.wisconsin.edu
