Robert Half Staff Accountant in Sterling, Virginia
Description
My client is a large healthcare company based in northern Virginia, looking to bring on a new Staff Accountant. The role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, and assisting in financial audits.
Key Responsibilities:
Invoice Management & Compliance
Create invoices, calculate vacancy penalties, and provide detailed supporting documentation to clients in accordance with contractual agreements.
Oversee all financial transactions, ensuring timely processing of invoices.
Accounting Operations
Perform company accounting functions, recording revenues and expenditures in compliance with GAAP.
Consistently update revenue tracking sheets, ensuring adherence to contract terms and maintaining accuracy.
Accounts Receivable Management
Monitor accounts receivable (AR) and ensure clients fulfill payment obligations on time.
Month-End Processes
Prepare and file accurate month-end journal entries to support the monthly close process.
Conduct monthly profit and loss (P& L) analyses for assigned contracts, identifying and addressing variances.
Financial Reporting & Reconciliation
Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports for both clients and executive management.
Reconcile balance sheets monthly, identifying and resolving outstanding variances in a timely manner.
Client Relationship Management
Develop and nurture positive working relationships with clients by responding promptly and professionally to requests.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and streamline processes.
Audit Support and Projects
Assist the manager with financial audits as required.
Participate in ad hoc financial projects as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and accounting practices.
Proficiency in using accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
Preferred Assets:
Experience working in the healthcare industry.
Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
CPA or similar detail oriented certification is a plus.
