The Manager Manufacturing Operations 2 oversees and manages all operational aspects of the Electronic Component Work Center (ECWC). The ECWC assembles, Avionics CCA’s and Boxes are integrated into Satellites. All work is performed at our Electronic Component Work Center Manufacturing Facility in Dulles, VA. The Manager Manufacturing Operations 2 position reports to the Sr. Manager. The manager leads the manufacturing and/or production area(s) and is responsible for the safety of the employees, delivering quality products on time and within customer cost targets, and continuous improvement. Provides leadership and direction of process development, production, operations, engineering, test and Quality Assurance functions. Manages and presents status on cost, schedule and performance for all projects within the area; assesses issues and develops mitigation plans to meet productivity, quality, cost, and delivery goals.

The Job consist of the following tasks:

  • Supporting ECWC in a management role

  • Supervising and Managing 20+ Electronic Assembler Technicians

  • Responsible for the safety of the employees, delivering quality products on time and within customer cost targets, as well as continuous improvement.

  • Corrective Action Planning

  • Cost Estimating

  • Provides direction and motivates employees on a project basis to employees in a single facility, guided by established practices and precedents.

  • Ability to provide and interpret written and verbal instructions

  • Frequently performs ongoing tasks of the department.

  • Reviews results for timeliness, quality, and cost effectiveness to accomplish departmental goals.

  • Develop and Executes manpower forecasts.

  • Interacts frequently with direct reports and managers concerning operations or scheduling of specific phases of projects.

  • Provides sound judgment and ensures overall quality and efficiency of the department.

  • Oversees and manages all operational aspects of a (one or more) manufacturing and/or production area(s)

  • Manages and presents status on cost, schedule and performance for all projects within the area.

  • Assesses issues and develops mitigation plans to meet productivity, quality, cost, and delivery goals

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of overall experience, 5 additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of the degree.

  • A minimum of 5 years of Lead, supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing role. 2+ years of direct people leadership experience.

  • Ability to establish schedules and workflows with the capability to quickly adapt to changing priorities

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft tools Excel, Word, Powerpoint.

  • Working knowledge of ERP and MRP systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Demonstrated expertise in the following systems and concepts:

  • MRP and IMS Scheduling

  • Cost Point production planning and material management tools

  • Windchill, TipQA, Cognos,

  • Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing and Manufacturing

  • Utilizing either Microsoft Project or Primavera to understand schedule and priorities.

  • Experience leading a Multifunctional team

  • Knowledge of tracking budgets and providing cost estimates.

  • Practical experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing and Manufacturing Experience in an Aerospace Manufacturing environment

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Salary Range: $129,300 - $193,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
