Summary You will serve as a Computer Scientist in the Ocean Database Branch, Physical Oceanography Division, Oceanographic Department of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS. Responsibilities You will provide software and life cycle maintenance of various Quality Control (QC) software applications. You will conceptualize, coordinate development, implementation and documentation of new or changes to existing QC and database oceanographic processes. You will participate in at-sea oceanographic operations where you will serve as Lead Oceanographer or Data Manager. You will provide oral and written technical reports on data quality, observations, data interpretation, problems encountered, recommendations, and equipment conditions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For GS-12: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing databases to support program operations. Experience testing and debugging in the development of computer software. Experience configuring within Operating Systems (OS) on Windows and Linux.
