Job summary

Opportunity Construction, LLC is a Subcontractor that supplies flaggers to Prime Contractors. The position requires a variety of duties to maintain traffic control at various construction sites. Because flaggers are responsible for public and crew safety and make the greatest number of contacts with the public, they will be trained in safe traffic control practices and public contact techniques. Opportunity Construction, LLC is a drug free workplace.

Job Skills and required training

• OC Will provide the training courses (APC/Penn DOT).
• Employment is contingent upon passing the APC/Penn DOT flagger training course

Essential Job Functions

A Flagg Person must fulfill the following job functions:

• Communicate specific instructions clearly, firmly and courteously and the ability to follow the same.
• Recognize dangerous traffic situations and warn fellow workers in sufficient time to avoid injury.
• Move and maneuver quickly in order to avoid danger from errant vehicles
• Control signaling devices (such as Stop/slow paddles and flags) and use a 22 channel radio in order to provide clear & positive guidance to drivers approaching a temporary traffic control zone in frequently changing situations.
• Complete a full work shift of physical labor while standing for extended periods of time in extreme weather & limited breaks.
• Communication with other flaggers.
• Large number of flaggers working together on a project.
• High traffic areas.
• No sit down lunch breaks.  the crew doesn't stop working for lunch!
• Rainouts.
• Nightshift work and weekends may be required.
• Bathroom breaks are limited and not all jobs have facilities.
• ABSOLUTELY NO CELL PHONES / DEVICES PERMITTED WHILE WORKING
• Drug free work environment, random testing throughout the season on the job site.

Additional Job Functions:

• ALL STANDARD EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR THIS JOB WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE EMPLOYER FOR A FEE (except boots). 
• Valid Drivers License (preferred)
• Job sites may be in a 100 mile radius of Harrisburg, PA
• Have good sight and hearing.
• Describe the make and model of all vehicles and communicate this to co-workers
• Remain attentive for extended periods of time.
• Be courteous, patient and have the ability to work with a group.
• Pass all testing.
• Be adaptable to last minute schedule changes.

• Rain, dusty conditions when milling the highway.
