    We are looking for a Project Coordinator for the Project Management Office of the Health Information Office (HIO)!

    The Project Management Office within HIO exists to oversee and coordinate the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (the Department) strategic initiatives, including improving operational and project excellence across the Department. Supporting projects related to Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS), Program Eligibility Application Kit (PEAK), Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) and Health Information Technology (Health IT) initiatives at the Department The work unit coordinates initiatives with other State agencies, including coordination with the Governor’s Office, the Office of eHealth Innovation, the Office of Information Technology (OIT), the Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), and the Department of Human Services (CDHS) to maintain a cohesive strategic approach among these agencies. The work unit supports the Department and the Health Information Office (HIO) in the oversight and coordination of initiatives through the creation of Enterprise Project Portfolio, IT strategy, project planning, coordinating requirements documentation, reviewing policy and detailed system design approaches, proposing solutions, and implementing solutions to support Department policies. The unit directs activities that influence policy staff, business analysts, developers and programmers’ deliverables.

    This position can work fully remotely from anywhere in the State of Colorado.

    Please note - equipment provisioning and certain onboarding tasks will take place in person, in our downtown Denver office, on the first day of employment.

Description of Job

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING AS PROJECT COORDINATOR:

  • Provide project coordination support to the Strategic Project Management Unit within the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), coordinating projects on a variety of initiatives related to the Department's strategic projects initiatives and Health IT systems.

  • Manage processes using the PMBOK methodology and Department EPMO standards to ensure that program, systems, and/or operations are supported appropriately.

  • Support the assigned Project Manager and supports the project team in all facets of assigned projects to define, plan, document, manage, and monitor the project scope of work, schedule, procurements, budget, requirements, operations, risks, issues, quality, decisions, communication needs, and resource needs through the full project management lifecycle.

  • Work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, most often participating in the management and controlling of several projects simultaneously.

  • Provide detailed organizational coordination and project support to Department staff, program SMEs, and operations. Position keeps Project Manager, EPMO Supervisor, EPMO Manager Office Director, and Deputy Chief of Staff informed of the progress on assigned projects.

  • Assist with the creation, monitoring and maintenance of project tools, templates, trainings, forms, APDs and contracts.

  • Participate in compliance activities, conduct research to support regulatory activities, and make recommendations based on research and analysis.

  • Responsible for achieving the responsibilities of the projects to which they have been assigned and for ensuring effective support is delivered to projects within the Office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

There are two ways to qualify for this position:

Option 1:

Experience Only:

Six (6) total years of professional experience in Public Health, Public Policy, Business Administration, and/or Project Coordination.

Option 2:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Public Health or Business Administration,

AND

Two (2) years of professional experience in Public Health, Public Policy, Business Administration, and/or Project Coordination.

Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Relevant education will be calculated as the following:

  • An associates will count as two years of experience

  • A bachelors will count as four years of experience

  • A masters degree will count for six years of experience

  • A doctorate or juris doctorate degree will count for seven years of experience

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous relevant professional state experience

  • Masters Degree in Public Health or Business Administration

  • PMP or CAPM certification from PMI

  • PMI-ACP or DASM Certification

    DEFINITION OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Work that involves exercising discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, and sharing an organized body of knowledge that characteristically is uniquely acquired through an intense education or training regimen at a recognized college or university; equivalent to the curriculum requirements for a bachelor's or higher degree with major study in or pertinent to the specialized field; and continuously studied to explore, extend, and use additional discoveries, interpretations, and application and to improve data, materials, equipment, applications and methods.
