Position Overview: As a Carpenter III, you will play a leadership role in the construction of our projects. This position requires advanced knowledge and experience in building envelopes, fenestration installation, rough and trim carpentry, construction materials, subcontractor relations, client relations, and scheduling. You will be primarily field-based, focusing on project site operations, and will report to a Design-Build-Energy Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Site Leadership:
- Mentor fellow carpenters on building science, construction knowledge, and installation methods.
- Execute construction projects according to the project schedule and budget.
- Advocate for and apply principles of passive house design and building science.
- Promote sustainable materials and practices.
- Continue development and education in high-performance residential construction methods and products.
- Consider and propose quality and efficiency improvement measures.
- Provide feedback on construction documentation.
Project Site Construction Supervision:
- Effectively communicate and delegate tasks to site crews.
- Manage efficient project progress workflow.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for client and subcontractor communication.
- Maintain project site organization, cleanliness, and safety.
- Read and interpret construction drawings.
- Ensure proper installation of materials and systems according to [Your Company Name] standards, manufacturer's instructions, and industry best practices.
- Supervise and communicate with [Your Company Name] site crews and subcontractors.
- Implement company Project Management software for daily logs, scheduling, and task lists.
- Communicate project status, schedules, and changes; tool, material, and labor needs; interpersonal concerns, issues, and needs; and other pertinent information to supervisor.
- Perform quality control inspections of [Your Company Name] site crew and subcontractor work.
- Monitor and report safety of [Your Company Name] site crew and subcontractors.
Construction Labor:
- Install building envelope components.
- Install windows, exterior doors, and skylights.
- Perform rough framing installation.
- Install interior and exterior finishes.
- Perform minor mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks.
- Construct temporary safety structures.
- Produce custom woodworking projects.
- Prepare and assemble timber framing.
- Assist fellow Lead Carpenters.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years of field experience in high-performance residential construction.
