Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE), the largest auxiliary organization at Stanford University, supportstheacademicmissionoftheuniversitybyprovidingthehighestqualityservicestostudentsand other members of the university community. The Department has an annual operating budget of over

$316 million and is steward of a $3.1B asset portfolio comprising seven million square feet (one-third of Stanford’s physical plant), provides housingfor nearly 14,000students and their dependents,serves over 18,000 daily meals at 30 dining and retail locations and over 500,000 meals at athletic concessions events, and hosts 20,000 conference guests annually. R&DE comprises 1,300 FTE and part-time staff in the following divisions: the Office of the Senior Associate Vice Provost (SAVP), Student Housing Operations, Stanford Dining, Stanford Hospitality & Auxiliaries, Stanford Conferences, and a team of R&DEstrategicbusinesspartners:Finance&Administration,HumanResources,InformationTechnology, Maintenance Operations and Capital Projects, and Strategic Communications.

Fully On-Site: This role is designated as essential and requires incumbents to report to work onsite. Telecommuting is not available for this role.

JOB PURPOSE:

Overseeandmanageassignedarea,includingstaffengagedinfacilitiesmanagement,custodialservices, or building/equipment maintenance.

CORE DUTIES*:

· Coordinatedailyactivitiesofassignedshop(s),including:schedulingandassigningworktostaffanddirectingandleadingworkersincompletingassignedwork;monitoringworkandprojectactivityprogress,makingnecessarychanges;completingperformanceevaluationsof assignedstaff;performingqualityassurancechecks,andcoordinatinghealthandsafetyprograms and training.

· Track budgetfor areaofresponsibility,andprovidetime and workforceneedsandestimatestohigherlevelmanagementbasedoncostanalyses,ensuringworkiscompletedaccording to stipulated price and agreement.

· Implement, interpret, and manage policies and procedures pertaining to operations and facilities management.

· Manageservicecontractsasapplicable.

· Coordinate activities, construction, and renovation with Stanford staff, subcontractors, and/or vendors. Support assigned project activities; ensure compliance with larger unitgoals.

Additional core duties of Building Operations Supervisor (BOS), Off-campus Operations Supervisor (OOS), or Housing Operations Supervisor (HOS):

· Demonstratedexperienceandabilitytodirectlysuperviseandmanagebuilding/area(interiorandexterior)custodialandfacilityoperations,anddiversecustodialbargainingunit staffandtemporaryemployees,ina24/7/365universityhousingenvironmentwithavariety ofbuildingtypes(residential,dining,administrativeoffices,commercialkitchens,events spaces,guestrooms,etc.),andbuildingoccupants(students,faculty,staff,conference guests, etc.).

· Demonstratedexperienceandabilitytoinspect,report,andprovidefollow-uponbuilding/areacustodial,facility,andmaintenanceissues.

· abilitytobuild and sustaineffective,positive,and efficientteams.

· Demonstratedabilitytounderstandandcommunicatecustomerneedsinordertoassistin thedevelopment,planning,andimplementationofappropriateactionstomeetcustomer,departmental and university expectations.

· Abilitytoserveontheafter-hoursresponse“dutysupervisor”rotationprogram(respondingto and taking action on emergency phone calls for division and department). “Duty Supervisor” role usually is for two or three week-long rotations per year. Ability to serve as back-upforotherBOS/OOS,aswellasprovideback-upforHousingBuildingManagerwhenrequested.

· Experienceandabilityusingcomputerapplicationsandothertechnologytomanage/completeessentialjobfunctionsandtomanageassignedprojects,programs,andinitiatives.

Qualifications - External MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

Acombinationofeducation,trainingandexperienceperformingresponsibilitiessimilartothoselisted above. Preferred post-secondary school education.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Demonstratedabilitytoutilizetechnologyinsupportoffacilitiesmanagement(workorder systems, spreadsheets, trend analysis, etc.)

· Experienceinworkinginahighereducationresidentialacademicenvironmentpreferred.

· Ability tocoordinate daily activities including work scheduling,quality assurance,program validation, monitoring of maintenance activities, and supervision of personnel.

· Demonstratedabilitytoworkautonomouslyonprojectsandinitiatives,producingaccurateresults within tight timelines and with limited resources.

· Demonstratedexperienceworkingwithsubcontractors/vendorsanddemonstratedabilitytomonitorprojectactivitiesandensurecompliancewithinternal/externalregulations.

· Demonstratedexperienceanalyzingandinterpretingpolicies.

· Knowledgeofenvironmentalandsafetyrules,regulations,andpolicies.Abilitytoconductjobsiteinspectionstoensurecompliance.

· Abilitytofollowwrittenandverbaldirectionsandcommunicatethoseinstructionstoothers.

Certifications and Licenses:

MustpossessavalidCAdriver’slicense.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

· Frequent sitting, desk-based computer tasks, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, complete visual inspections of facilities.

· Frequentstanding/walking(includingupanddownstairs),twisting/bending/stooping/squatting,graspinglightly/finemanipulation,usingatelephone,lifting/carrying/pushing/pullingobjectsthatweighupto11-20pounds.

· Rarelykneel/crawl,climb(ladders,scaffolds,orother),reach/workaboveshoulders,graspforcefully,writing byhand,sort/file paperwork orparts,lift/carry/push/pullobjects thatweigh >40 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Requires24-hourresponseavailabilitysevendaysperweekforemergencysituations.

· Maybeexposedtonoise>80dBTWA.

· Mayworkatheights4-10ft.

The expected pay range for this position is $88K to 92K per annum ($42.31 to $44.23 / hour).
