Jabil is seeking an experienced Lead Supplier Quality Engineer to work in the St. Petersburg, FL location.
How will you make an impact? As the Lead Supplier Quality Engineer, you will determine an appropriate inspection process and direct IQC/SQE personnel, where applicable. The qualified candidate will represent the Supplier Quality Management function of technical support, lead containment and resolution of supplier quality issues with the manufacturers, and communicate the status of non-conforming suppliers across all programs.
What will you do?
Define the technical support on developing and implementing Supply base strategies that drive improvements in supplier selection, development, and leverage across customer programs for quality improvements and cost savings.
Ensure the technical support in the respective areas of Supplier Quality Management is fulfilled and complied with internal and external customers.
Provide regular updates to the Quality Manager on the execution of the strategy.
Provide support for NPI activities by participating in the Advanced Qualification Program process as required.
Ensure that all production critical supplier issues are resolved in a timely manner, and corrective actions are implemented.
Define and develop the appropriate Inspection Plans and Inspection Methods, and direct Receiving Inspection Auditors.
Define and develop the inspection processes via inspection aids and instruction guidelines.
Ensure the ongoing site supplier evaluation is performed. This would be achieved by using site information collected from Receiving.
Inspection, Material Review Board, Customer Returns, Supplier Corrective Action Report. database and by liaison efforts with customer work cells. The performance will be reported internally, to the supplier, and to the customer where applicable.
Monitor and drive PPM (Parts Per Million) issues with the supply base in addition to helping them achieve “Dock to Stock” certification with Jabil (in accordance with the vendor performance system).
Review all supplier discrepancies. Coordinates and tracks the corrective/preventative action effort.
Proactively communicate information or issues that may impact the product costs or manufacturability to all affected departments.
Provide insight and assistance in implementing and maintaining Process Improvement and Optimization concentrating on proactive methodologies with the supply base.
Lead SCAR – Supplier Corrective/Preventive Action process for problem resolution and continuous improvement, including critical analysis of supplier Design of Experiment, Process Capability Index, Gauge Repeatability, and Reproducibility studies.
Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by the supervisor.
Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
How will you get here?
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required with a discipline in Engineering preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality or Supplier Management/interface OR an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Proficient knowledge and experience of SAP Material Management
Strong knowledge and experience with GD&T are required.
Understanding of the ISO 9001- quality system and how it relates to the business.
Strong communication skills both verbal and written; in-person and via Microsoft Teams.
Strong mechanical background desired, metal stampings & tooling, metal fabrication, machining and various electrical components, connectors, PCBA, and cable assembly.
Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings (6 sigma training desired).
Strong knowledge and experience working with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Microsoft Project, and other computer programs.
