Job Summary:

Under general supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to generate sales/commission revenues by providing marketing and sales support of fixed income investments. Guidance is provided to perform varied and complex activities that require some evaluation, originality and ingenuity in making moderately complex decisions. Regular contact with internal and external customers is required to obtain, clarify, or provide facts or information. Resolves questions and problems and refers new or unusual issues to a higher level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generates sales ideas and promotes new products through written sales memos and proactive phone networking and branch visits

  • Provides marketing and trading support to Financial Advisors.

  • Answers telephones for quotes, orders and information.

  • Responds to inquiries from Financial Advisors about the department’s investment philosophies, products and services.

  • Disseminates timely marketing materials for fixed income products and services targeted at financial advisors and investors.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Fundamental Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of customer relations, marketing and communications.

  • Investment concepts, practices and procedures used within Fixed Income.

  • Financial markets and products.

  • Trading strategies and market characteristics within assigned securities type or sector.

  • Company’s working structure, policies, mission, and strategies.

Skill in:

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software including email, graphics, presentation, spreadsheet, database, and project management software. Including HTML and PDF document formatting.

  • Gathering, compiling and updating information and maintaining distribution lists.

  • Performing basic research.

  • Maintaining databases.

  • Strong marketing and sales ability.

  • Identifying relationships, draw logical conclusions, and interpret results.

  • Using technical/professional knowledge, interpersonal and sales skills to obtain customers’ commitment to ideas, services, or products.

Ability to:

  • Use appropriate interpersonal styles and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with all organizational levels.

  • Organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with critical deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Provide a high level of customer service.

  • Project a positive, professional image both internal and with external business contacts.

  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Convey information clearly and effectively through both formal and informal documents.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Finance, Accounting or Business and a minimum three (3) years of experience in the financial services industry.

or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • SIE required provided that an exemption or grandfathering cannot be applied.

  • FINRA Series 7 License and the ability to obtain other FINRA Licenses (as required).
