Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our food service team. The successful candidate will perform a variety of food service production activities, including the pre-preparation and preparation of hot and cold foods for patient services, retail, and catering operations, ensuring all dietary requirements are met. The candidate will handle and store food properly according to regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prep and prepare food items by cutting, chopping, slicing, dicing, pureeing, marinating, etc.

  • Wash, peel, cut, and seed vegetables/fruits, along with weighing and measuring designated ingredients.

  • Follow standardized recipes and produce food items using various cooking techniques such as sautéing, broiling, braising, blanching, baking, grilling, deep fat frying, and steaming.

  • Properly chill and store foods in designated areas following all labeling, dating, food safety guidelines, and rotation procedures.

  • Complete designated food safety quality control logs.

  • Ensure compliance with special dietary requirements, nutritional restrictions, allergens, modified textures, and other special dietary needs.

  • Clean kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas to maintain the highest level of sanitation.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in foodservice and food preparation techniques.

  • Knowledgeable in food safety standards and practices.

  • Experience with various cooking techniques and institutional kitchen equipment.

  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and dietary guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Provides customer service in a professional and friendly manner.

  • Follows food safety and portion guidelines.

  • Assembles meals according to the menu, diet order, and correct protocol.

  • Ensures work area is set up and supplies and products are organized before, during, and after shift.

  • Cleans and sanitizes work station and utensils.

  • Uses equipment and materials properly and safely.

Work Environment

The work environment is in a hospital setting, which is climate controlled, clean, and patient-facing. The shifts include one opening from 6am-6:30pm with a 3 days on/3 days off schedule, and another from 6am-2:30pm with some weekend work required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of St. Peters, Missouri.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
