Adjunct Instructor - Part-Time Physics Description Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a part-time position of Adjunct Instructor (or Assistant Professor with appropriate qualifications) in the Department of Physics to begin August 15, 2024. Department Information: The Physics Department offers a nationally recognized comprehensive major and graduates an average of 15 +/- 3 students per year, of whom a very high percentage pursue graduate and professional degrees. Prerequisites What s required: An earned master s degree or master s course work in physics or a related field (PhD preferred) Evidence of commitment to undergraduate teaching What s preferred: Evidence of effectiveness in teaching at the TA level or beyond Demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and identities Experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives Things you will do: Teach 4 to 6 contact hours in the Fall and/or 4 to 6 contact hours in the Spring. The teaching load may be a combination of lecture courses and labs. Interest in teaching Quantum Mechanics, Statistical and Thermal Physics, Electromagnetic Theory, and Advanced Math Methods is preferred.
