Regions Hospital Patient Care Assistant in St. Paul, Minnesota

As a patient care assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the patient with activities of daily living (ADLs), providing patient care treatments which include but are not limited to, discontinuing IVs, restraint monitoring, and collecting patient vitals, weights, and intake & output all in a safe, timely, and effective matter. This position regularly collects specimens such as urine, stool, and finger stick blood glucose at the direction of the nurse. The patient care assistant responds to patient call lights and requests, communicates with patients and visitors, and assist the nurses with procedures as requested. This position also documents and charts in our electronic health system. Work Schedule/FTE: We are currently looking to hire for various in-patient units ranging from 24-32 hours per week and our night (11pm-7:30am), evening (3pm-11:30pm) and day (7am-3:30pm) shift. The patient care assistant position does require you work every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Required Qualifications: Education: Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program required (must have occurred within the last 5 years) or Experience: Experience in an acute care setting as a nursing assistant (minimum of 520 hours and has occurred within the last 5 years) or completion of one clinical rotation in a RN or LPN program within the past 12 months or Experience as an Emergency room Technician (minimum of 6 months at 40 hours per two week pay period) or Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant certification on the Minnesota state registry. And A current Basic Life Support CPR certification from either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Preferred Qualifications: High school degree of equivalent Prior experience in acute care or hospital setting Proficiency using Electronic Health Record (EPIC) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Benefits: Our Patient Care Assistants who work above a .5 FTE (40 hours per 2 weeks) are eligible for medical insurance, dental insurance, 401K with a match, disability insurance, paid time-off, and tuition reimbursement.
