This position serves our partners at the Department of Corrections (DOC). The MNIT DOC team runs many unique applications that manage the information and security of the department, supporting 4,500 employees across 10 prisons and 50 field offices located throughout the state.
*This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last up to three (3) years.
As an IT Project Manager with MNIT and Department of Corrections (DOC), you will manage the development and enhancement of information technology and business systems, processes, and services in support of the statewide enterprise business solutions within MNIT and DOC.
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.
Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in performing IT project management functions.
Experience must include:
Agile, Waterfall and/or Iterative project management methodologies.
Project planning, scheduling, scope, cost and risk management, status reporting, change control, issues resolution and other project management controls and practices.
Knowledge of the Software/System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing Agile technology projects that span the complete spectrum of IT systems including custom, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and processes to support, and enhance foundation infrastructure, services, business systems and enterprise software solutions.
Proficient in using a project and strategic portfolio management application (e.g. Microsoft Project, Sciforma, Planview)
Ability to handle numerous projects, prioritize, delegate, and escalate project concerns as needed.
Advanced communication skills to facilitate group discussions to drive decision-making direction.
Human relations skills to establish rapport, and to motivate coworkers and customers.
Experience creating procurement documentation.
Knowledge of the Project Management industry best practices for service/systems creation and development and generally accepted standards outlined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) Guide and Agile principles.
