Fairview Health Services Durable Medical Equipment Customer Support Specialist in St Paul, Minnesota

Overview

On M Health Fairview's Home Medical Equipment (FHME) team, we strive to help each patient reach optimal independence, health, and comfort. The DME Customer Support Specialist (CSS) provides excellent customer service in a fast-paced and multitasking environment. The CSS ensures an exceptional patient experience and performs a variety of clerical functions. This role is primarily data entry/computer work with minimal patient interaction. There is no direct in person patient interaction but is required via telephone as necessary.

This is a 5 days/week onsite position that is located at 2200 University Ave in Saint Paul, MN. It's a 1.0 FTE (80 hours over 2 weeks) commitment, day shift only, with no weekends! As part of the M Health Fairview system, this role if fully benefit eligible. Benefits include medical, vision, and dental coverage. We encourage staff development and support continuing education.

Responsibilities Job Description

This role is primarily accountable for processing paper copy purchase agreements for DME items dispensed in our 150+ consignment locations. These purchase agreements are received weekly and this role is responsible for processing everything into Brightree along with verifying insurance and obtaining all necessary documentation in order to bill insurance correctly. This role will also learn and assist with our CPAP Insurance Verifications and Prior Authorizations to assist in assuring patients receive their PAP machines as timely as possible.

  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills

  • Produces efficient and accurate orders

  • Records and updates patient charts accurately, communicating changes to all involved staff

  • Seeks out solution to conflicts directly through parties involved and other available resources.

  • Adds pertinent information and documents into the patient record in Brightree

  • Navigate through patient medical records using EPIC

  • Arrange for interpreter services when appropriate

  • Completes insurance verification

  • Takes and leaves concise messages for patients; responds as requested

  • Reviews and routes scans, faxes medical documents to necessary parties

  • Strong knowledge and familiarity with the Fairview system

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills

  • Ability to prioritize competing activities

  • Knowledge of applicable DME equipment and processes

  • Completes all order and entry functions

  • Answers and responds to telephones calls

  • Completes clerical duties

  • Report professional development to supervisor

  • Meet weekly productivity measurements

  • Implements department procedures to maintain systems and records

  • Maintains databases, files, and records on a regular basis according to established procedure

  • Demonstrates strong communication skills

  • Request IT service independently

  • Additional duties as needed

Qualifications

Required

Experience

  • 3 years of customer service

Preferred

Education

  • Associates Degree or bachelor’s degree

Experience

  • Experience in a medical setting, medical terminology, Brightree and EPIC
