The Health Regulation Credentialing unit is responsible for administration and oversight of federal licensing, certification and registration functions for providers and facilities such as nursing homes, home health agencies, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, birth centers, intermediate care facility with individuals with intellectual disabilities, hospice, dialysis providers, and many other types of providers.
The Advanced Credentialer is responsible for providing assessment, direction, consultation, and training of regulatory requirements to providers applying for or renewing licenses, certifications, and registrations. This position ensures licensing and certification activities are conducted in compliance with Minnesota Statutes, federal regulations, and other applicable laws and rules so the health, safety, and rights of vulnerable Minnesotans are protected.
This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota or South Dakota. Position location will be determined by the top candidate and will be based out of one of the following MDH district office locations: St. Paul, St. Cloud, Duluth, Rochester, Mankato, Marshall, Bemidji, or Fergus Falls.
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years* of experience working with licensing, certification or other federal, state or local government regulations.
Minimum qualifications that will be assessed during the interview process:
Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with licensing applicants and health care providers.
Ability to interpret policies and procedures for the enforcement of federal and state regulations.
Experience working within multiple database systems.
Time management skills to effectively prioritize work.
Human relations skills sufficient to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of organizations and individuals.
*A Bachelor's degree in Public Health or related health field will count as one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to health care providers and state and local public health programs.
Ability to interpret and translate federal regulations and state rules and statutes into common language.
Experience working in a regulatory environment.
Experience providing training and technical assistance to the public.
Ability to problem-solve and make decisions independently.
Experience working with multicultural backgrounds.
