Swank Motion Pictures Staff Accountant in St. Louis, Missouri
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant will be an integral part of the Finance team partnering with the Controller and CFO on financial related areas. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial reporting processes. This role involves overseeing all aspects of month-end closing, including deferred revenue. Additionally, this role will assist with budgeting, royalty payments, and various other operational tasks.
Responsibilities
Manage and execute aspects of the month-end closing process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
Accurately calculate and record deferred revenue, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable accounting regulations
Support audits, including external and tax audits
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
Process studio royalty payments in accordance with contractual agreements
Serve as backup for accounts payable processing, including invoice entry, approval workflows, and vendor payments
Serve as backup for Bank of America Travel Cards process, including employee reimbursement, Concur support, and policy adherence
Support cash management activities, including managing payment exceptions and processing of ACH/wire payments
Take on additional projects and tasks assigned based on business needs
Requirements
3-5 years of prior accounting experience
Must be highly organized, attentive to detail and proactive.
Job discreetness and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Ability to multi-task, deal with interruptions and frequently changing priorities, while meeting deadlines
Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal correspondence
Commitment to detailed financial accounting and reporting
Understanding that individual priorities may take a back seat to customer needs and overall company goals
Other projects/tasks as assigned based on needs
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
Master’s degree preferred but not required.
Substantial experience with an ERP (G/L, A/P, A/R, etc.), NetSuite experience a plus.

This position is based in the office but there is an opportunity to work from home on Fridays.
