Senior Account Director - Accredo

This Accredo Director is responsible for building and maintaining key strategic relationships within their respective client portfolio which includes Specialty Pharma Manufacturers and Consultants. This position has ownership of the contract, development and execution of short and long term account strategy, retention and achieving business unit strategic goals within their respective manufacturer portfolio. This position will also manage relationships and strategic growth for our business development clients; assisting with RFPs and new sales. The Director is required to be a subject matter expert of their Pharma contracts and have a solid understanding of Specialty services to successfully identify program improvement, up sell and strategic expansion opportunities. This includes renegotiating contracts as needed, including confidentiality agreements and request for proposals. The Director serves as an escalation point for the client, as well as collaborates with the Specialty Product Team, Specialty Operations and other internal stakeholders to resolve issues and achieve strategic client specific opportunities. This individual will also be responsible for new business development within their current book of business and be responsible for leading and executing on new upsell opportunities within their current book of business.

Responsibilities

  • This role will be supporting both Accredo Specialty Pharmacy and CuraScript Specialty Distribution.

  • Serve as an internal and external subject matter expert across Accredo and CuraScript SD product offerings.

  • Guides the company on strategic decisions and provides advice that has a significant impact on strategic planning.

  • Contributes to the strategic planning for client renewal and retention strategies.

  • Participate in sales presentations to potential pharma clients.

  • Research and analyze market trends, competitive environments, and potential business alignments for marketplace expansion.

  • Represent Accredo/CuraScript SD at industry events and conferences as required.

  • Develops and executes account strategies that result in revenue growth.

  • Works with internal and external business partners to ensure that account expectations are met.

  • Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product or service improvements.

  • Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business.

  • Possesses industry-wide authority and represents the organization externally.

  • Widely recognizedPharma expert and thought leader by both internal and external community and is responsible for the technical leadership of a major department/multiple departments across a function.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience (prefer MBA).

  • 10+ years relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree, 8+ years relevant experience with Masters and 16+ years relevant experience without a degree.

  • Strong project management skills. Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills. PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Working knowledge of financials.

  • Negotiation and leadership skills are essential.

  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Excellent organization skills. Experience leading client meetings.

  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing contracts with utmost integrity.

  • Knowledge of the Specialty Healthcare, Pharma and PBM industry preferred.

  • Ability to develop strategic work plans and assess opportunities to grow profitable business.

  • Ability to assess program metrics and financials.

  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues, determine root cause, and develop remediation plans.

  • Ability, confidence and experience to be counterparts with Pharma contacts with 20 years of experience in the business.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment.

  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives, teams and acting in a mentor capacity.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with other departments to collaborate, facilitate and resolve issues and be able to develop customized solutions to meet business requirements.

  • Ability to prioritize work and make independent decisions.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, and document progress on projects as required.

  • Travel is anticipated up to 50% of the time for business meetings and industry events.
