THE INFRASTRUCTURE PLATFORM TEAM
You will join the leadership team of our new Infrastructure Platform, where we are committed to changing the way we work by implementing the DSO mindset and practices globally. We are responsible for building the Next Generation Infrastructure Platform for Bayer, supporting the integration, orchestration, and optimization of Bayer’s digital capabilities and assets, focusing on Connectivity, Cloud Computing, API, Automation and AI. We enable digital transformation, innovation, and agility by adopting new technologies, methodologies, and best practices such as DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Composable Infrastructure Architecture, and Artificial Intelligence by design.
You will work with the Unit Heads of our Multi-Cloud Platforms, Connectivity, Functional IT (Production IT), and API, Data Integration, and Tools as well as with our Principals. Our organization includes 220+ colleagues across five continents in 43 countries. We are accelerating digital value creation through standardized, secure, and efficient technology platforms – we are Bayer's digital backbone.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Principal BizDevOps Lead for the Infrastructure Platforms team, you will play a pivotal role in transforming our principles into action for platforms delivering technology-enabled offerings. You will drive agility by aligning business strategy with technical development, coaching teams, and collaborating with leadership to improve product delivery. As part of the leadership teams within the Infrastructure Platform in the IT Foundation, you will help shape organizational strategy and ensure operational excellence. Your focus will be on maximizing value for the customer by driving decisions and actions that directly impact their experience. You will enable empowered decision-making, design processes for efficiency and simplicity, foster transparency and trust, and build a skill-based organization that emphasizes high-quality outcomes.
Observe and recognize opportunities to further develop behaviors and skills that improve teams’ agility. Leveraging extensive research and knowledge of industry best practices, co-create solutions with teams based on their unique circumstances. Provide high-touch consulting to help teams develop and apply the necessary behaviors and skills, coaching them until they can demonstrate these independently.
Coach teams to develop rapidly by testing and learning different techniques with a “Safe to Try” mentality. Design common models and practices for modern software development across IT platforms, including the training and activation of inner-source delivery.
Provide guidance and coaching on new ways of working and technical product development driven by business intent.
Help teams understand the business (what) and the technical (how), coaching them on interpreting business needs and translating them into technical solutions.
Commit to continuous improvement of business-to-technical delivery, adapting to evolving business and organizational changes. Be responsible for the concept and delivery of living documentation, documenting business intent and how it changes over time.
Run and manage agile ceremonies such as quarterly release planning, roadmap creation, and vision. Partner with and advise leaders on organizational designs, process, and culture changes to enable business agility. Mentor engineers, product managers, and designers across teams to raise the overall competency across the organization. Drive the implementation of Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) practices across the organization.
WHO YOU ARE
Required Qualifications:
You have 5+ years of experience working with or leading agile teams, with expertise in agile methodologies such as KANBAN, Scrum, SAFe, Lean, or XP;
You have proven ability to build rapport and trust with employees at all levels, including senior leadership teams;
Your high degree of coaching and mentorship experience focuses on developing and applying new skills and behaviors.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 10 years of IT industry or equivalent experience, with experience leading and guiding people and/or project-level leadership experience.
