Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Mechanical Reliability/Maintenance Engineer maximizes overall equipment effectiveness; by establishing reliability procedures, controls, and reporting systems, ensuring continuous improvement of all maintenance reliability processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Support all safety programs and goals, including all OSHA standards
Define/develop/refine and monitor predictive/preventive maintenance program/procedures
Work with Project Engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified equipment
Guide reliability decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing standards and procedures
Optimize equipment effectiveness by establishing, monitoring, and managing reliability controls
Monitor and confirm equipment reliability by conducting audits and tracking performance using KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)
Ensure reliability of equipment by establishing predictive/preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts, identify critical assets and spare parts, evaluating new equipment and maintenance techniques
Perform root cause analysis on all major process interruptions to eliminate/reduce reoccurrence, initiate corrective actions, and develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures
Skilled in the use of Root Cause/Root Cause Failure Analysis, Failure Reporting/Analysis and Corrective Action System, Fault Tree Analysis
Work with Production to perform analyses of assets including Asset Utilization, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Remaining Useful Life, and other parameters that define operating conditions, reliability, and costs of assets
Develop and monitor a preventive maintenance optimization process to ensure continuous improvement
Assist the Manager and Supervisors w/ Maintenance/Reliability Engineering functions as needed
Provide technical support for weekend/off-shift coverage as needed
Assist in Departmental metrics development and tracking
Actively participate in general site and Departmental Safety and Quality initiatives, including assignment to a Departmental Safety Team if needed
Update SOPs due to any changes made to equipment to improve product or production efficiency or flow
Communicate with vendors on purchasing equipment, scheduling service work and obtaining technical information.
Ability to read and comprehend advanced electrical/electronic schematics and mechanical drawings
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred or equivalent engineering discipline preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in an Engineering role within a manufacturing facility, experience in an FDA controlled industry is preferred, heavily focused on Predictive Maintenance Technology

OPERATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: High degree of collaboration required on a regular on-going basis. Must be able to establish effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external personnel including engineers, operating and maintenance personnel, site and corporate leadership personnel, consultants, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The working conditions consist of mainly an office environment with frequent visits to various manufacturing units for troubleshooting, project management, design, and implementation. Manufacturing areas are not climate controlled. During summer months, building exhaust fans provide ventilation. Chemicals handled include acids and bases, organic solvents, and inorganic compounds. Chemicals may have characteristic odors or hazardous properties that require special handling. Office and Manufacturing environment may require use of personal protective equipment such as hard hat, safety glasses and work boots. Additional PPE may be required on some occasions.
