Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The responsibilities of this position include maintenance, repair and installation of a wide variety of building and mechanical, piping and electrical systems associated with office, laboratory and pilot-scale dosage drug product development within the Research and Development department at our location located in Webster Groves, MO. This position will handle preventative maintenance and work orders for equipment repairs, general facility work and equipment improvement as needed. The position focuses on a general knowledge of mechanics, plumbing and electricity to allow support of the building operations in facility, mechanical and electrical aspects including trouble shooting and maintenance planning for improvements, PM’s and scheduled repairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Troubleshoot HVAC systems, gas fired and electric boilers, chillers, cooling towers, USP and deionized water systems, compressed air systems, HVAC controls, and building automation systems.

  • Maintaining instrumentation, electrical controls, motor controls and PLC’s.

  • Familiarity with National Electric Code, electrical schematics and electrical troubleshooting.

  • Troubleshoot a wide variety of building, mechanical, electrical and piping systems.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on the identified systems including utilizing Maximo, a computer based maintenance program to document the completion of the preventive maintenance as well as additional work orders.

  • Support capital project executions including design comments to ensure fitness for use. Schedule and direct the activities of outside contractors. Knowledgeable of construction methods and construction management.

  • Adherence to safety and compliance standards including compliance to plant training programs, environmental rules, security requirements and safety procedures (electrical, LOTO, and others).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education required/ preferred:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Vocational School Certification

Experience:

6 years hands on maintenance experience as a facilities or lab maintenance.

Experience and knowledge of cGMP requirements associated with the research and development to oral dose pharmaceuticals as well as good laboratory practices.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

Working knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of construction methods and construction management

Universal Certification for CFC’s (chlorofluorocarbons).

Knowledgeable of the state and federal laws governing industrial gases.

Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, architectural, and machine schematic drawings.

Ability to work off shifts, nights and weekends as required.

Excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to interact effectively with various personalities at all levels.

Ability to make decisions on the fly with minimal information

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:

  • Position reports the Maintenance Supervisor at Webster Groves

  • Internal contacts include all levels of the organization from lab worker to VP’s.

  • External contacts include contractors from all different trades, equipment vendors and service providers.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working conditions range from normal equipment maintenance to working in a clean cGMP environment.

Ability to wear a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR)

Flexible work schedule required
