    About the Job

    The Logistics Specialist position will play a pivotal role in the efficient management of our company’s supply chain operations. They will support the management of truck, rail, barge, and transload operations from multiple supply points. This position will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and making recommendations on key logistics and supply chain activities.

  • Support Supply Chain process through rate procurement and carrier selection process. Support the planning and coordinating of movement of goods for Rail, Truck, and Barges shipments to Customers and MLC distribution facilities. Collaborating with various departments, suppliers, and customers to ensure a smooth follow of information.

  • Resolve logistics issues and challenges that may arise during the supply chain process. Perform logistics administrative tasks around documentation, record keeping, and data maintenance within the ERP System.

  • Learn, develop, and support operation excellence activities to improve reliability and reduce costs.

  • Audit variances on invoices, review for accuracy, and dispute invalid invoices.

  • Schedule and tender freight in support of logistic requirements

  • Monitor and create necessary reports to monitor customer rail shipments to maintain best usage of lease railcar fleet.

  • Other duties as directed by Logistics Manager, Logistics Team Leader, or Sales & Marketing that may be required.

    Required Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: 4 year degree or related logistics experience.

  • Skills: Strong computer skills using MS Office suite of products required.

  • Behaviors: Exceptional communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with all levels of people within our fast-paced organization required. Must have strong judgment skills as well as the ability to think ahead, prepare action plans to achieve results, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Team oriented individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.

  • May require working after normal business hours. Rotating on-call phone (Weekdays only) approximately 40 days a year.
