EMSL Analytical Inc. Laboratory Technician (Microbiology) in St. Louis, Missouri

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Microbiology) in St. Louis, MO. The technician supports the laboratory analysts by preparing samples for analysis. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Perform standard and non-standard laboratory prep procedures according to internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for microbiology environmental samples received from clientsPrepare samples received for analysis for all departments, including fungal spore samplesMedia and Reagent PreparationSample preparation and pH AdjustmentsWork with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile technique and good lab practicesDocumentation of sample preparation, quality assurance/quality control and analytical activitiesAssist with laboratory organization, supply inventory, calibrations, and cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipmentSome clerical work may be involved including login and data entry and scanning and emailing reportsCross training in other laboratory disciplines as needed to meet business demandsMaintaining quality assurance/quality control and company policyRequirements:Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalentAssociate's Degree in a Life Science (Biology, Microbiology, etc.) is a plusExperience with spore traps, direct microscopic exam, food testing, food microbiology, or other culture-based microbiology, bacteriology, mycology is a plusCandidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysisGood communication skills (will have some client interaction)Proficient in typing and Microsoft OfficeAttention to detailMust have an understanding of custody client confidentialityAbility to work independently and with a teamAbility to work well under pressure and meet client deadlinesAvailable Shift:Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EMSL offers full time benefits: medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and a flexible spending accountTo find out more about EMSL Analytical, Inc. please visit our website at: www.emsl.comEOE including Veterans and Disabled
