A position within the Legal Group at Purina is responsible for providing sound and timely legal advice to company personnel with a focus on commercial contracts and other transactional matters. Day-to-day activities include reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of complex contracts; serving as legal counsel for various business transactions; and providing legal counsel for other corporate and general business matters. The ability to be flexible, adapt to change, and work well within a large corporation will be highly valued as part of our hands-on legal team.

  • Provide guidance and support to a broad range of legal areas that may include the following: general corporate matters, consulting, marketing services, equipment procurement, raw materials and packaging procurement, real estate, construction, and other commercial transactions.

  • Prepare, review, and negotiate commercial agreements to support business operations.

  • Work with department colleagues to understand their subject matter expertise/perspective on relevant issues.

  • Directly engage with business clients to discuss transactions, transaction structures, typical approaches, relevant contractual clauses, and points of negotiation.

  • Provide training to internal business clients on relevant legal topics.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

  • Active bar admission in good standing in the United States

  • 2+ years of transactional legal experience and/or corporate legal experience

The approximate pay range for this position is $129,000.00 to $175,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location.
