Wolters Kluwer Senior Technology Product Manager in St Cloud, Minnesota

Basic Function

As a Sr. Technology Product Manager, you will be part of a team that oversees a product line that contributes directly to the revenue of a business unit. You will build products from existing ideas and help to develop new products based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. You will have direct responsibility for managing the backlog, defining the content of individual user stories, and ensuring the appropriate prioritization of work so that we can deliver needed functionality that meets our market commitments. You must enjoy spending time with clients, learning how they use our products and evaluating enhancements and new functionality against their existing workflows and use cases. You will be expected to serve as an evangelist for your product. You must also exhibit a high degree of professionalism in your work and interaction with others.

You will work with various stakeholders to help develop and maintain our product strategy and coordinate product release priorities. You will serve as a product subject matter expert (SME), helping other stakeholders and our clients understand the product positioning, key benefits, and key functionality.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Maintains required professional knowledge; keeps abreast of current developments and trends in area of expertise; use this expertise to help develop plans and strategies to introduce new technology when appropriate; recommend and develop innovations which enhance operations and/or provide a competitive advantage.

  • Use a structured approach to analyzing and resolving complex problems; secures and evaluates relevant data from appropriate sources and trends and identifies key issues and relationships to determine the critical issues relative to a problem; develops effective conclusions and comprehensive recommendations.

  • Involved with full lifecycle application development, with emphasis on agile development (scrum, sprints, incremental design) methodologies.

  • Understands appropriate design, development, and testing methodologies to ensure a quality software product.

  • Develops alternative courses of action and makes decisions based on logical assumptions and which reflect factual information.

  • Builds confidence in the eOriginal organization and the business benefits and integrity of its products and services.

  • Maintains the confidentiality of eOriginal strategies, plans and other proprietary information.

  • Serves as a product expert, product evangelist, and the voice of the customer for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Understands the strategic and competitive position of the product, carries out competitive analysis and help define value adding enhancements.

  • Works jointly with customers and focus groups to identify product enhancements and consolidate input.

  • Understands stakeholders’ needs and help define and develop the functional and technical product needs in support of the product roadmaps.

  • Collaborates with sales, support, and development teams to identify and document user stories and requirements.

  • Develops a deep understanding as to how our users interact with our products. Validate enhancement needs with customer input. Observe, question, and discuss features and functionality with our user base.

  • Understands the relationship between high level EPICs and the user stories that comprise them.

  • Manages the Agile backlog. Maintains complete user stories, drives estimates, and assists in the prioritization and ongoing management of the backlog.

  • Develops in-depth knowledge of competitor products, identifies, and maintains competitive strengths and weaknesses.

Job Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or related discipline or equivalent work and course experience in lieu of degree.

  • 3-5 years of product management experience.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to articulate the product vision to the external market and internal stakeholders.

  • Strong familiarity with developing business cases and roadmaps that support the business strategy, product vision, and product goals.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Strong leadership skills to help drive requirements gathering with stakeholders from numerous teams.

  • Can articulate potential product opportunities available in application processing, data validation or verification, and the move from paper to digital lending.

  • Familiarity with Agile principles, Sprint planning practices, product refinement and story estimation.

  • Familiarity with REST API concepts and terminology.

  • Experience in working with teams to develop wireframes and specifications for new product features.

  • Customer focused – Ability to communicate software enhancements to clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with UX/UI concepts and the role of design sprints in the sprint planning process.

  • Previous experience with consumer-oriented platforms such as online banking portals. Ability to consider and incorporate the consumer experience in the product planning process.

  • Familiarity with JIRA, wireframe technologies such as Axure, and Visio.

  • Familiarity with electronic document delivery and esigning of financial instruments that can be collateralized and securitized.

  • Experience working in product teams that support business high-volume transactional systems is a strong plus.

Travel requirements

  • Up to 10% of travel required.
