POSITION: Family Access and Community Liaison TYPE OF POSITION: Non-Represented Exempt 12-month Coordinator Full-time, year-round position Hours may vary based on program needs REPORTS TO: Director of Equity Services SUPERVISION: None QUALIFICATIONS: Required B.A. or B.S. in education, counseling, social work or related field and three years' experience in community engagement, organizing and/or advocacy, or A.A. Degree or equivalent and five to seven years of experience working in and with our Black, Indigenous, People of Colof (BIPOC) community. Demonstrate effectiveness in working with students and families from diverse racial, cultural, economic and multi-lingual populations. Excellent human relations skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with students, families and staff. Managerial skills including planning, supervision, problem solving, conflict resolution, and team collaboration as necessary to consistently act in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment Preferred Three to five years' education-based work experience Bachelor's degree in education, behavioral sciences or related field; direct, job related experience and relationships with the African American community may be substituted for education. Experience in working with our St. Cloud Black/African American community. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of school equity program administration; ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in both oral and written forms; ability to work with administrators, teachers and support staff to support inclusive school culture; ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor and evaluate new and/or current programs; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, consultants, associates, school officials and the general public. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Director of Equity Services, this position will serve as a liaison to the African American community in the St. Cloud School District. This position will coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of diversity, equity and inclusion activities, programs and services for African American students and families in order to effectively support students' personal, social emotional, and academic achievement needs through targeted guidance, outreach, consultation and education services. In addition, the coordinator will develop systems for family outreach partnerships and promote early childhood awareness through adult education. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Actively develops and supports strong relationships with the African American community to assess needs, drive engagement and to develop programs and partnerships which will effectively meet the needs of African American students and families Consults and collaborates with district leaders, school principals and staff to build greater individual and school capacity for supporting the academic and social success of African American students and all students of color Serves as a bridge between the schools and African American student families through the development of systems for family outreach partnerships Coordinates activities that support/enhance/strengthen cultural identity, using culturally-relevant materials and curriculum when appropriate Assists schools in creating an inclusive environment for African American students and all students throughout the School District Through partnership with district leaders and the African American community, will work toward the following goals: Increase the number of African American secondary students who participate and successfully complete rigorous courses and programs, such as Advanced Placement courses Increase the number of African American secondary students who participate in extracurricular and co-curricular activities Increase the number of African American secondary students p eparing for college Increase the sensitivity & awareness of African American history, language and culture Improve and sustain improved African American student attendance Provide dropout prevention activities to increase African American student graduation rates Assists the Director of Equity Services in collecting and disseminating information from data driven research, promising educational practices, and professional resources to improve the educational experience of African American Students Assists school staff in the special education process to understand cultural differences Provides the Director of Equity Services recommendations for staff development training, promoting research-based practices to increase African American student achievement Provides regular updates to the Equity Services Director Assists in the development of program evaluation and reporting tools Enthusiastically promotes the School Districts goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL FACTORS: Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing All Employees of Saint Cloud School District 742 are responsible to support District goals, to work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse populations of staff, students and parents and to model and promote a welcoming working and learning environment.
