POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Development Manager, Military Markets will build Sonaca North America’s market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships with Customers. This Business Development executive will at all times model Sonaca North America values and principles and act in a manner consistent with the Sonica North America Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for understanding and mapping the military and defense market, stemming new market initiatives, making recommendations to management, and developing business opportunities, including negotiating contracts, initiating proposals, and closing deals.

  • Understand customers’ unique needs and business models to negotiate deals, contracts and close opportunities.

  • When required, conduct further commercial industry and specific market sector research on an ongoing basis, reading trade publications, customer & competitor’s web-sites, reports from industry analysts and various news sources.

  • Participate in and/or coordinate trade shows, conferences, and forums to develop market intelligence and build business relationships.

  • Coordinate customer visits, pulling in program/project managers and technical subject matter experts as needed to provide the best information possible to the customer.

  • Support the proposal teams and/or estimating personnel in developing winning business proposals.

  • Provide information to the proposal team about the customer and assist the team with securing the additional information from the customer that might be needed to prepare a comprehensive and accurate proposal.

  • Plan and direct the steps to be taken to win the work.

  • Partner with the estimating staff to ensure implementation of strategies and optimal leverage.

  • Responsible for developing sales forecasts which support the demand planning process.

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a detailed database on customer organization, key decision makers/influencers and new business opportunities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES

  • Bachelor’s Degree and more than 5 of years of experience in customer support and development or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience preferred. Specific experience should include business development and technical sales/marketing in the aerostructures defense market. Extensive knowledge of the aerostructures industry, along with its way of working, network, and customers, is a must. Direct knowledge and experience with materials and components testing, manufacturing processes is required.

  • Ability to read and interpret customer specifications, the ability to read, analyze, interpret and present general business materials and the ability to independently manage multiple complex projects, each with changing priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and shifting time requirements. Must be able to promote a participative, team-oriented environment, working with customers (both internal and external), all employees, suppliers and others in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing. Ability to compile and present data in a format that facilitates information sharing and decision making.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical materials and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, work instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees and vendors.

  • Interacts professionally with customers, co-workers and suppliers; understands internal customers; and strives to maintain good relations with others.
